Best dental clinic at Ang Mo Kio

Most of the time, it’s quite tricky to select a dental clinic especially if you are trying to find on your own - no referral. If you are not vigilant enough, you could fall into the hands of a mediocre dentist. You would want to find a dentist who can provide the right dental service and make you feel at ease every visit. So, here are a few tips you need to keep in mind when looking for a dental clinic.

Tip #1: Friendly Atmosphere

As the saying goes “first impression lasts,” this is also applicable when you visit a dental clinic. When you step a foot in the clinic, try to observe the atmosphere. Do you feel welcome? Notice other patients waiting at the reception are. Do they look bored? Or are they talking to other patients? It is important for a clinic to have a friendly environment since it makes a good pain reliever to patients suffering from any dental issues. Even without talking, you can easily determine if the clinic has a friendly atmosphere - you can feel it and you can see it through other people’s smile.

Tip #2: Promptness with attending to patients

Promptness is critical when selecting a dental clinic. You don’t want to wait for hours before you will be entertained by the receptionist. This is why it is an essential aspect that every clinic must have. Many patients visit the clinic in acute pain and therefore, they should be attended in the shortest time possible. The staff should be good at communicating with patients in a friendly and polite manner. When you enter the clinic, you should be entertained by the staff - ask you about your concern and if you have set an appointment. If the staff and dentist attend to their patients promptly, expect that these patients will come back.

Tip #3: Equipped with Latest Facilities

A good dental clinic is always equipped with the latest instruments and facilities to provide the best possible service. Today, most clinics share photos of the instruments used and the facilities in their social media channels, like Facebook. So, visit their social media network and check out their facilities and instruments to give you an insight of what they utilise for the services offered. A clinic with no modern devices is not a good option as they might not be able to perform your treatment properly.

Tip #4: Good Service Reviews

A reputable AMK dental clinic can be quickly identified through positive reviews and feedback from previous or existing patients. When you visit their social media channel, check the review section and look out for negative comments. If the review section is filled with unfavourable feedback, you should not consider going to the clinic - find another.  Aside from the feedback concerning the dental services, you should also take note of the dentist’s attitude towards the patients. Satisfied patients usually share their gratitude to the dentist at Ang Mo Kio online. If you see that the dentist received lots of praises and compliments, then you just found the right dentist to attend to your dental problem.

Next, your gums will be checked. This will be done with a special tool to measure the spaces between your teeth and gums. With healthy gums, the spaces are shallow. When people have gum disease, the spaces may become deeper.
The check-up should also include your tongue, throat, face, head, and neck. This is to look for any signs of trouble, swelling, or cancer.

  4. d) The final step is flossing. Your dental professional will use floss to make sure the areas between your teeth are clean.
What you should do between visits
  1. Be sure to take care of your teeth and gums between regular dental visits. Plaque is always forming on your teeth, but you can get rid of it by brushing and flossing regularly.
  2. Brush your teeth at least twice a day. Be sure to use a tooth paste that contains fluoride.
  3. Floss at least once a day.
  4. Use a mouth rinse to help get rid of plaque bacteria. This will help to refresh your breath.

3 Important Tips After Gum Treatment In Singapore

Are you planning to undergo a gum treatment in Singapore? Gum disease is never fun, neither for the patient nor for the periodontist. But if gum disease is left untreated, it can pose serious problems to the patient’s dental health and will eventually cause tooth loss. Gums protect and support the teeth as well as the tissue that holds those pearly whites to the bone.

Safe gum treatment in Singapore

Gum disease, also known as periodontal disease, is caused by bacterial growth inside the mouth and usually starts in areas that you are not brushing. Swelling of the gums can be one of the first symptoms of gum disease. So, it is critical to visit your dentist if you notice this sign so he can recommend a periodontist for your gum treatment. The dental procedure may involve cutting into or removing diseased tissue from the mouth, removing a tooth, correcting jaw problems, and repairing a cleft lip or palate.

However, the treatment doesn’t end after the surgery. There are important tips that you should keep in mind after the procedure to ensure the efficacy of the treatment.

Take Prescription For Pain

Your oral surgeon may prescribe medication to alleviate the pain. Feeling some pain once the anaesthetic wears off is pretty normal which might last for 24 to 48 hours after the procedure. You might feel discomfort or soreness at the site of the surgery for 3 to 5 days, although the amount of discomfort may vary from one person to another.

In case you are taking other prescription medicines or supplements, be sure to inform your dentist or oral surgeon to avoid complications. Take the medication exactly as your oral surgeon has instructed. If the pain does not subside or get any better after 48 hours, you may call your dentist or visit the clinic to discuss the matter.

Monitor Bleeding

For the first hour or two hours after the gum surgery, it is possible that you will bleed. The area may continue to bleed for up to 24 hours. But don’t panic. The blood and saliva mix together inside the mouth and this will make it look like you are bleeding more than you think you really are. If you cannot control the bleeding after 4 hours, try pressing firmly a gauze pad on the area then call your dentist to consult the situation.

Periodontics experts or oral surgeon will use a gauze pad over the wound to minimise the amount of bleeding. Make sure to keep the pad in place for an hour or so no matter how soggy it becomes. Apply firm and constant pressure on the gauze pad by closing your teeth firmly on it. After one hour, you can replace the gauze pad with a new one and do the same thing for another hour. Get enough rest and keep you head raised high to slow down the circulation of blood. The day after the treatment rinses your mouth gently with warm water about 4 or 5 times a day.

Ease The Swell

During the first 24 hours after the gum treatment procedure, your face may swell and it may last for 5 to 7 days. You can try to alleviate the swelling by putting a cold compress on the swollen area. If you don’t have a cold compress, you can wrap ice cubes in a towel or a bag of frozen products and place on the swollen area for 10 minutes. Remove the cold compress for 10 minutes, and then put it back for another 10 minutes. You can repeat this over and over again for the first 24 hours.

Gum treatment helps keep teeth

On the second day after your gum treatment in Singapore, you may use a warm compress on the area. Once the swelling starts to go down, don’t fret if you see the bruise on your face. The bruising may last for up to 10 days after your procedure.
